So recently I've become addicted to Otome games... I never really understood them until I started playing them but now I'm addicted. The fact that there are several available for iPhone/iPod/iPad is a terrible, terrible thing!
Currently I've downloaded & been playing:
- My Forged Wedding
- Shall We Date? Actor Love
- Pirates in Love
- Renai Shugi Road to Emerald
- Shall We Date? Heian Love
- Shall We Date? Ninja Love
And I've been waiting for the My Forged Wedding Kajima Yuta update, which came out yesterday!
What can I say about Yuta's story.... well I knew I really wanted to play Yuta's story whilst I was playing Takao's story. I chose Takao first because, in reality, he's the sort of guy I'd choose haha! But Yuta was really adorable during Takao's story so I've been waiting patiently for its release!
...And I wasn't disappointed.
Yuta's story is really adorable and I can help but like it!!
It doesn't start like Takao's story (where he needs a favour - as Kunihiko says, Yuta's favour isn't as important) but a few months later. Yuta gets a break to have his own TV show about his newly wed life with his scary, wrestler-sized wife. So everyone has a few drinks at the Long Island before Yamato, Takao, Takamasa and Ren have to go home and Kuni has to close up the bar. So that leaves you and Yuta to go off drinking together, just the two of you... then, on your way home you get your heel caught and start to fall, Yuta, being the gentleman, catches you and you get snapped by a photographer and BAM! Next day you and Yuta are plastered all over a scandal rag.
So the production company aren't happy about this, the fact that the magazine has stated that you are Yuta's other half means that they can't use the wrestler-like comedienne so it looks like the show will have to be cancelled. After a chance meeting with Lily, Yuta's sister, you decide to step up to the mark and take on the role of the scary wife and thus your 'forged wedding life' begins...
Of course it gets more complicated, Yuu (or Masaru) who is the boke half of Fukumimi, Yuta's comedy act, is in hospital suffering from overwork. He and Yuta have been working multiple jobs whilst trying to make a hit of Fukumimi. That's why Yuta decided to do the show. When you meet Yuu, Yuta pretends that you two are actually married - the production company have told him that he can't tell Yuu the truth yet.
As expected, this comes back to bite Yuta in the butt at a later date and Fukumimi almost break up because of it since Masaru doens't think he can trust Yuta anymore but luckily you are there to remind him of his childhood words (that Yuta told you about) and save the day!!
I'll admit it, I'm a complete sap and found myself in tears when the fake marriage came to an end. It was so sad leaving Yuta when the feelings were so obviously there. Then there's the period where you return to working with Kunihiko at Long Island and see the others loads but not Yuta and he doesn't reply to text or calls from anyone. I think one of the saddest moment is when you go to return the spare key to find Yuta's apartment empty apart from a picture of the two of you together with a thank you note on the back T_T sooooo sad... and ouch, none of 'his friends' knew either... what a meanie!
Following that, you all learn that Fukumimi are in the final for the W1 comedy competition and decide to leave Yuta a voicemail wishing him good luck. You kind of well up-ish whilst leaving it (aww bless) and then, at about midnight when you're about to go to bed, who should call you...? Yuta!! He's feeling all nervous and says he wanted to speak to you *awww* and ask you to come to the W1 final the next day and to go to his dressing room beforehand!!
So you go to see Yuta at the studio and he's all nervous and shaky so you give him a hug from behind and it reassures him. Turns out Masaru is in the dressing room too haha!! After the sweet reunion moment, you go watch the competition and, low and behold, Fukumimi win it! You want to talk to Yuta afterwards but can't because of the reporters etc surrounding Fukumimi and go off back to Long Island.
The boys are all there and make you feel great, telling you how popular Yuta is with the ladies, he ranks in the top 10 desirable celebrity boyfriends and some hot shot actress has said she thinks he's hot too! Just what you need to hear! Then Fukumimi's tour lineup comes on tv and it shows that Yuta and Masaru are going to be doing a lot of traveling and you realise that you're probably not going to see him much anymore and that he'll end up loving someone else... *sobs* at this point I was thinking to myself 'unhappy ending much' :'(
BUT!! To my incredibly happy surprise, who should walk into the bar, none other than Yuta!!! In he comes, saying how much more important his friends are than all the famous people at the party, how sweet - so important he didn't bother with them for the months leading up to it but still, we'll let that slide 'cause he's cute haha!
Next, Yuta asks if you know what day it is, when you don't seem to, Yuta tells you it the anniversary of your fake engagement LOL!! And with that he pops out a ring and says he can't be with you, there's no one else for him and he's missed you, will you marry him? Of course you will! I mean you haven't dated, he hasn't spoken to you in months, he moved without telling you but yeah of course you're gonna say yes! Again, all of the aforementioned reasons to say no are negated because Yuta's cute haha! E Voila!! Super Happy Ending!!!
Well apart from the fact that I wouldn't agree to marry a guy who didn't talk to me for months because he was too busy no matter how much I was in love with him, I loved this story haha! Much more than Takao's, even though Takao's one is sooo cute ^^ But Yuta's story is really well done, even with my skepticism at the ending, I really enjoyed it and I'll be replaying it for sure. I liked the way you felt like you were losing, that there was no happy ending, when actually you were doing just fine, it was much more dramatic than most Otome's that I've played and I really liked that and I really recommend My Forged Wedding in general, because I really enjoyed Takao's story too.
There's lots of spelling mistakes and engrish but that only makes it more authentic haha!! They also change how they refer to the others a lot too so its good to learn their first & surnames, especially Saeki Takamasa because his changes every other line he says haha!! There's lots of cute moments too, like when Yuta trips and falls on you :)
Next one that I want to play is Kunihiko, I wanted to play his back when I first downloaded My Forged Wedding, so I'll have to patiently wait for that one to come out. They're fairly pricey at £2.49 per character but they're worth it because they're beautifully done, the scenery and artwork it lovely, but it means I'm limiting myself to one character per month max (alternating months with Pirates in Love).
So Yuta's story get a 9.9/10 from me because of the dodgy ending bit haha but the storyline in all other aspects was great :)
wow that was an amazing review!!! i feel like it played it myself! or like i was thinking about the story line again after not playing it for a week
